We assist the daily lives of foreign residents and returnee residents who do not speak Japanese as their first language, as well as promote the coexistence of foreigners and Japanese citizens.
The JLAP team was established in February 2002 by citizens who are members of Global Community Interaction, an organization certified by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
We are striving to create a society that “overcomes the differences” of race, nationality, beliefs, history, and culture, as well as “a society in which every person is respected.”
2002年の開始から多くの方のご協力のもと開催してきた教育プログラム「日本語の時間(通称；JLAP：ジェイラップ)」は、文化庁の事業として採択されました。
これによりJLAPは文化庁国語課から委嘱されました。
今後は、共に居住者としての外国人等（日本語を母語としない人たち）への日本語支援をしていきます。
Thanks to the support by many since the establishment in 2002, GCI’s language education program,“Japanese Language Assistance Program (JLAP)” has been adopted by the Agency for Cultural Affairs as one of its programs.
Consequently, JLAP has been delegated by the Japanese Language Division of the Agency for Cultural Affairs.
From now on, we will support the lives of foreign residents in Japan (non-native Japanese speakers) together with.
